How's life outside of JC treating you?

I'm not entirely sure. I've been helping with the house since...okay I have to back up. We lived here before, when I was in 8th grade. And we own a house here so while we were in South Dakota and Iceland, we rented it out. The last tenants we had were placed there because of a fire to their home and were told they'd have to leave by the end of September as we were coming back from Iceland. Well, not only would they not vacate, but they'd destroyed the house. And I'm being generous. All told they've done about 12 grand worth of damage to our house. So we've been going into debt redoing everything and I've been helping out.

I'm trying to substitute teach right now but the system is weird and they only let you apply if a position comes open, so I'm waiting for one. We'll see!

Good luck with the substitute teaching. I know it seems like they're always looking for teachers, so I bet it won't be long before something opens up for you. Hooray money, yes? ;)

Well according to the various people in charge of this sort of thing, we can only hold them accountable for just under 10 thousand. Jerks.

Yes, absolutely. In the meantime I've been suckered into doing a scrapbook about my middle schoolers so maybe doing it will rekindle my reasons for teaching at all after the high school successfully made me never want to enter a school ever again.

Several hours after, my brother came up to me and asked "So, does your whole existence feel insignificant now, too?"

Yeah, it kinda did.

I'm totally dragging everyone I know to it tomorrow. Maybe then I'll have words. Now all I can do is exclaim "YOU GUYS." and wave my arms about ineffectively. :D
