fantasticmuse(Whatever it was... I think it may have snapped. I don't want to jinx anything because I'm likely to go back to feeling bad. But. That horrid dark cloud that's followed me for almost... nine months, holy shit... it's gone. I feel like doing things, starting with revising some never-posted fic and letting people see it. I feel like thinking again. I feel like I can enjoy school again. Please, by all that's holy, let it last. Let it last.

I realize I'm often vauge on this journal and it's hard to tell what's really going on with me. I've been having a bad year, on the whole- just general feelings of ick. And I think they may be starting to fade.
So to celebrate, a series of squee. Darcy wanted Sky Captain squee and everyone else wanted squee/rant, so she gets hers first.
Sky Captain is shiny. Literally. Everything in the freaking movie sparkles. There are flying machines and submarines and vintage clothes and typewriters and assassins and dirigibles and robots and yeah.
It sparkles.
And I love the characters as well, because they're all a bit more complex than they seem at first- each of them makes you wonder "how did you get where you are? What's your story?" Which is perfect from a fic writer's point of view. There are a million variables that led things the way they went and each one would be great to explore.
Plus, there are two women who are good at their job and make no bones about it and have relationships and fuck them up and make no bones about that either. They don't have to be perfect, because they're happy with what they're doing.
Also, slash. Joe and Dex love, love, love each other. Joe is willing to travel 'round the world with a woman who drives him nuts (okay, he kinda likes her, actually) to rescue him. To the ends of the earth and all that.
=D The movie is love. And great fun to play in.
